JU vs. Bethune-Cookman Game Notes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Opening Kick...

- The Jacksonville University football team kicks off its 10th anniversary with the 2007 season opener against Bethune-Cookman. It is the first time that the two schools have ever met on the gridiron.

- The Dolphins open the 2007 campaign by facing two Football Championship Subdivision scholarship programs. The Dolphins are 2-12 all time against FCS scholarship teams, with the last win coming on Sept. 20, 2003, against Coastal Carolina.

- This week's game also marks the beginning of the Kerwin Bell era at JU. Bell was named the second head coach in school history on Jan. 2 after building Trinity Catholic High School into a state power in just five seasons.

- The matchup against the Wildcats extends JU's schedule against in-state rivals. The Dolphins have played five in-state opponents and is 3-4 in those games.
