JU unveils festivities for 10-year anniversary of Football

Sept. 11, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With nearly a decade of history under its belt, the JU Football program has celebrated many triumphs and several players have proudly worn a Dolphin uniform. In honor of the accomplishments and the bright future ahead for the football program, the JU Athletics Department has announced its festivities to celebrate the 10th season of Dolphin Football and is looking for former players to make their way back to D.B. Milne Field.

"This is an exciting time for JU Football and there is no better way to look forward to the future than celebrate the memories of the past," said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. "We want this weekend to be a special time for everyone involved and we hope to see the people who laid the foundation enabling us to get where we are today."

Festivities will occur on Homecoming Weekend in coordination with the Dolphins' contest at D.B. Milne Field against Pioneer Football League-rival Morehead State on Oct. 13 at noon. On Oct. 12, Dolphin Athletics will host a Punt, Pass & Kick competition with former JU players on D.B. Milne Field beginning at 5 p.m. to narrow down two finalists. Immediately following the competition, JU will host a Bar-B-Que for all the former players involved with the event.

The two finalists will return to D.B. Milne Field for the championship showdown at halftime of the football game against Morehead State.

To help honor the tradition and dedication of those who made JU Football what it is today, the JU Athletics Department is in search of former players to take part in the celebration. If you would like to attend, please contact director of athletic development Kelly Skodinski at (904) 256-7680 or kskodin@ju.edu.
