Small, Zacco earn Player of the Week honors

Sept. 23, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After tying school records in the Dolphins' 55-10 win over UNC-Pembroke, Rudell Small was named Pioneer Football League Offensive "Player of the Week" while Michael Zacco was named Special Teams "Player of the Week."

Small, a freshman from Ocala, Fla., tied the school record for rushing touchdowns with five. Zacco tied the school record for extra points in a game, hitting all six attempts.

"Both of these guys had big days for us yesterday," said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. "Both of them also got a lot of help from their teammates. The offensive line was able to open a lot of holes for Rudell and he was able to make the most of it."

Making his first career start, Small carried the ball 19 times for 112 yards becoming the first Dolphin to top the 100-yard mark in a game this season.

Zacco, who won the competition for the kicker job in preseason camp, extended his streak of stellar play. He nailed two field goals and was perfect on his six extra point attempts. He has yet to miss a kick in a JU uniform, going 5-for-5 on field goals and 9- for-9 on extra points.
