Football wraps up conference play against Butler

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU football team looks to snap its three-game losing streak on Saturday as they wrap up Pioneer Football League play against Butler at D.B. Milne Field.

Kickoff is set for Noon, with the game being broadcast live via radio on 1010XL and tape delay on Comcast-Jacksonville. The game will also be shown live on through ASun.TV.

The Dolphins (2-7, 1-6 PFL) want to get the sour taste of last week's 29-27 loss to Valparaiso. The Crusaders scored 10 points in the final eight minutes to rally past JU for the critical win in the PFL.

"We've had a good week of preparation for this game and our guys are still working hard," said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. "This group has seen firsthand that you have to play the entire 60 minutes and execute every play until the final horn. That is what we are emphasizing this week and we've seen a difference so far in practice."

After falling behind 17-6, JU scored 21 unanswered to hold a 27-17 lead. The Dolphins' surge into the lead came via a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive performance.

JU was able to run the ball effectively, rushing for more than 200 yards in the contest, while also keeping the Crusaders honest with some timely passes.

The defense, which was clawed for more than 200 yards rushing in the first half, stood its ground in the second half and held the Crusaders to less than 75 yards on the ground in the final 30 minutes.

Ultimately, the difference in the game was turnovers as JU made three - including a fumble with just less three minutes remaining that led to Valpo's game-winning drive.
