Feb. 5, 2004

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University has signed a contract with Jacksonville's Sports Supterstation, "The Winner" AM 970 (WNNR), to broadcast more than 25 Dolphin baseball games during the 2004 season. The Voice of the Dolphins, Cole Pepper, returns for his third year calling play-by-play, while former JU assistant Rusty Green will once again provide color commentary. The broadcast schedule is predominantly in the final two months of the season, including all Atlantic Sun Conference and NCAA postseason action. The first broadcast will be Sunday, February 15, when the Dolphins welcome No. 18 Florida State to Alexander Brest Field at 1 p.m. The Dolphin Pregame Show begins at 12:45 p.m.

"We're excited to once again be part of a new and growing station," said Jamie Zeitz, JU's Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. "'The Winner' has shown a commitment to long-term excellence on the First Coast, especially in the local community. We had a very positive experience with the station during the football season when we aired all 11 games as well as The Steve Gilbert Show"

All JU games can also be followed live via OCSN Gametracker on the Dolphins' official web site,

"We're excited about being the home of JU Dolphins baseball," said Bernie Daigle, Vice President and General Manager for AM 970. "Dolphin baseball has a long winning tradition, which makes the Dolphins a great fit for us as we continue our growth on the First Coast. Our broadcasts of Jacksonville University football received nothing but great praise."

"The Winner" AM 970 is an affiliate of The Sporting News Radio Network, which currently broadcasts on more than 450 stations across the country, and is Jacksonville's newest home for "Jocks and Stocks".
