Baseball's Economical Offense Downs Florida A&M, 6-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU's economical offense scattered seven hits and drew eight walks, while recording three sacrifice hits against Florida A&M in a 6-1 win Saturday night at Alexander Brest Field. Junior C Jon Galui (Palm Beach, Fla.) had a hit, two walks and a pair of RBI to lead the Dolphins at the plate.

The Dolphins put four runs up in the third to build a 5-0 lead after Galui capped the inning with a single to right center and advanced to third on a fielding error by the rightfielder, scoring freshman Pete Clifford (Jacksonville/Providence) and sophomore Gordie Gronkowski (Buffalo, N.Y.).

Junior RHP Brett Nagy (Jacksonville/Bolles) (1-1) gave up seven hits and one run, while striking out eight in 6.0 innings of work for his first win of the season. Senior reliever Patrick Sitkins (Ft. Myers, Fla.) and freshman reliever Ashley Roque (Jacksonville/Bolles) each pitched 1.1 scoreless innings to close the game out.

The Rattlers' Jim Beauford allowed five hits and five runs, while walking six and striking out four for the loss.

JU returns to action on Tuesday, March 2 when they host Western Michigan at 4 p.m. at Alexander Brest Field.
