JU improves to 10-8 and 2-2 in the Atlantic Sun, while Georgia State drops to 4-10 and 1-3 in conference.
The Dolphins put up four runs in the opening frame when Brickle opened the scoring with a double to left center, scoring Best-Berfet and Sean McHugh (Port Orange, Fla.) and making it 2-0 JU. Senior Clint Hart (Jacksonville/Paxon) walked to put two men on when Alex Jamieson (Sarasota, Fla.) doubled them both home to make it 4-0 JU.
Georgia State rallied with three runs in the third inning when, with the bases loaded, Robinson's pickoff throw to third caromed into the left field corner, clearing the bags and making it 7-4 Dolphins.
JU added three insurance runs in the sixth when senior Orlando Diaz (Downers Grove, Ill.) crushed his fourth home season of the year to deep center, scoring McHugh and Brickle to make it 10-4 Dolphins. Diaz finished the game with two doubles and four RBI.
The Dolphins finish the series with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m. at DeKalb South Field.
