Box Score

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sophomore Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI, while senior Larry Best-Berfet (Newark, N.J.) went 3-for-4 with a sac fly and a walk to lead the Dolphins to a 10-7 win over Florida A&M Tuesday at Moore-Kittles Field.

Brickle reached base five times against the Rattlers, hitting a double in his first at-bat, singling in the fourth, getting hit by a pitch in the fifth, singling again in the seventh and doubling in the ninth.

The Rattlers trailed 10-3 in the bottom of the ninth when they put up four runs on the Dolphins, but it proved too little too late.

JU extended a two-run, 4-2 lead in the fourth inning with a run in the fifth, a pair of runs in the seventh, a run in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to claim the 10-7 victory and sweep the season series with Florida A&M.

Sophomore lefthander Kyle DeVries (Holland, Mich.) (2-2) was nearly perfect through the first 3.0 innings, allowing just one hit, no runs and no walks while striking out two. Freshman Andrew Laughter (Longwood, Fla.) took the mound in the fourth and gave up two runs off one hit before settling down and retiring six of the last seven batters faced for his second win of the year. Ashley Roque (Jacksonville/Bolles) closed out the final 3.0 innings, earning his third save of the season.

JU scored a pair of runs in the fourth when Brickle scored and senior Joe Steward (Ottawa, Kan.) singled home Jamieson to give the Dolphins a 4-0 lead.

Florida A&M scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a leadoff double and a pair of JU errors to cut JU's lead to 4-2.

The Dolphins led off the scoring in the first when Brickle doubled to center field, scoring Best-Berfet and freshman Pete Clifford (Jacksonville/Providence) and making it 2-0 JU.

JU travels to No. 18 Florida State tomorrow for a 6 p.m. game with the Seminoles.
