Baseball Loses the Mayor's Cup to North Florida, 12-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Atlantic Sun Player-of-the-Week Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) drew a pair of walks and was hit by a pitch to lead the Dolphins on a cold evening, but North Florida was hotter, capturing the 12th annual Mayor's Cup with a 12-3 victory Tuesday night at Harmon Field.

North Florida led, 11-2 after five innings, putting up eight runs in the middle innings to take control of the game. The Ospreys scored three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth while turning four double plays on defense.

JU starter Patrick Gleason (Merritt Island, Fla.) (0-1) went 0.2 innings in his first start for the Dolphins, giving up one hit, three walks and two runs for the loss. North Florida's Tony Polster went 6.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs for his third win of the year.

The Dolphins tied the game in the second inning with senior Clint Hart's (Jacksonville/Paxon) RBI single and a sacrifice fly from senior Tom Alford (Jacksonville/Mandarin) making it 2-2.

The Dolphins return to action when they travel to No. 22 Florida Atlantic on Friday, March 26 and 27 for an Atlantic Sun conference series.
