Baseball Hosts No. 23 UCF in A-Sun Conference Series

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU baseball hosts No. 23 UCF in a three game series beginning with a doubleheader Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. and finishing up on Sunday, April 4 at 1 p.m. UCF enters the series atop the A-Sun with a 24-5 overall record and a 10-2 conference mark, while the Dolphins are at 14-15 and 5-7 in conference.
This weekend's series features two of the top pitchers in the A-Sun in junior Dolphin righthander Dennis Robinson (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and junior Matt Fox. Robinson and Fox sit atop the A-Sun with seven wins apiece, while Fox leads the league with 67 strikeouts and Robinson is second in the conference with 63.0 innings pitched. Robinson also ranks sixth in the Atlantic Sun with 43 strikeouts.
JU is led at the plate by senior third baseman Orlando Diaz (Downers Grove, Ill.), who leads the Dolphins with five home runs and 26 RBI, and freshman shortstop Pete Clifford (Jacksonville/Providence), who leads the team with a .371 batting average. Junior catcher Alex Jamieson (Sarasota, Fla.) is also coming off a big week vs. No. 19 Florida Atlantic in which he hit two home runs and recorded five RBI in two games in Boca Raton.
Robinson (7-1) is set to start game one of Saturday's doubleheader against UCF righthander Kyle Bono (4-0), while junior righthander Brett Nagy (Jacksonville/Bolles) (1-3) will take the mound in game two against freshman lefty Brian Brooks (1-0). Sophomore lefthander Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) (1-0) will face off against UCF's ace Matt Fox (7-0) in Sunday's nine-inning finale.
JU leads the all-time series, 24-21, taking 2-of-3 games from UCF in Orlando last season.
