Box Score

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU led No. 13 Florida State by a run in the sixth inning thanks to a pair of home runs and three RBI by sophomore Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day), but the Seminoles scored 13 runs in the final four innings to take a 15-4 victory Wednesday night at Alexander Brest Field. JU held a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth, but a five-run inning by the Seminoles turned the tide in Florida State's favor.

Dolphin sophomore starter Kyle DeVries (Holland, Mich.) (2-5) recorded the loss, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing six runs, one of them earned, and striking out four. Seminole reliever Frank Radziwon (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, throwing 1.2 innings and fanning four.

Brickle hit a two-run homer in his first at-bat of the game to put the Dolphins up, 2-1 in the first and added his second blast of the night in the third to give JU a 3-1 lead. Florida State added another run on a bases-loaded error in the fifth to close the gap, 3-2, before the fateful sixth.

Freshman Daniel Murphy (Jacksonville/Englewood) went 3-for-4 with a run, while senior Orlando Diaz (Downers Grove, Ill.) had a pair of hits and one RBI. Senior Larry Best-Berfet (Newark, N.J.) had a hit and a run scored to go along with his team-leading 25th stolen base of the season.

The Dolphins return to action on Friday when they host Stetson at 7 p.m. at Alexander Brest Field in the first game of a three-game conference series that wraps up with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
