Baseball Travels to Campbell for Pivotal Atlantic Sun Series

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Baseball travels to Campbell this weekend for a pivotal three-game series beginning on Friday, April 16 and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 17. The Dolphins are 16-20 and 7-11 in the conference, while the Camels stand 13-21 and 5-10 in the Atlantic Sun, holding down 10th place in the conference.

Junior righthander Dennis Robinson (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) leads JU with an 8-2 record this season, tied for third in the nation in wins. Robinson has won seven of his last eight starts, posting a 3.74 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 77.0 innings of work. Freshman shortstop Pete Clifford (Jacksonville/Providence) and sophomore first baseman and left-handed pitcher Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) continue to lead the Dolphins at the plate. Clifford is in the hunt for all-freshman honors, batting .364 with nine doubles and 30 runs scored, while Brickle is hitting .417 with eight doubles, a pair of triples, three home runs and 22 RBI in just 21 starts. Senior third baseman Orlando Diaz (Downers Grove, Ill.) leads the team with seven home runs and 33 RBI, while posting the conference's highest fielding percentage among everyday third basemen with just three errors at the hot corner. Senior Larry Best-Berfet (Newark, N.J.) is 10th in the nation with 28 stolen bases while leading the team with 34 runs.

Campbell is fresh off a 5-2 upset victory over No. 24 N.C. State and is a tough opponent despite its 13-21 record. Shortstop Joe Anthonsen leads the Camels with a .339 batting average and 15 walks, while first baseman Mike Priest has three home runs, 22 RBI and a .307 batting average. On the mound, lefthander Matt Terrill is 4-3 with a 3.04 ERA and 23 strikeouts. Robinson and Terrill will face-off in Friday night's opening game at 6 p.m., while Brickle and sophomore lefthander Kyle DeVries (Holland, Mich.) will face Campbell's Josh Blades (3-7) and Jordan Topal (1-4) in Saturday's doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Brickle is 2-1 with a 4.89 ERA and 13 strikeouts, while DeVries is 2-5 with a 3.57 ERA and 31 strikeouts.
