BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Junior righthander Dennis Robinson (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) moved into a tie for second place in the nation with his ninth victory of the season, while senior third baseman Orlando Diaz (Downers Grove, Ill.) blasted his eighth home run of the season as the Dolphins shut out Campbell, 8-0 Friday night at Taylor Field. Robinson pitched a nine-inning complete-game shutout, allowing six hits, no walks and striking out three to improve to 9-2 on the season and pick up his eighth win in his last nine starts. Diazí»s two-run shot in the first inning put the Dolphins up, 3-0 and gave Robinson all the cushion he would need on the night.

JU improves to 17-20 and 8-11 in the Atlantic Sun, while Campbell falls to 13-22 and 5-11 in conference.

Senior Larry Best-Berfet (Newark, N.J.) led off the game with a single and promptly recorded his 29th and 30th stolen base of the season, moving into a tie for first place in the A-Sun, before scoring on a single by freshman Pete Clifford (Jacksonville/Providence) to give JU a 1-0 lead. Diaz homered off the first pitch in the next at-bat, giving Robinson a 3-0 lead. Robinson allowed a pair of hits in the second inning and two in the ninth, but remained in control throughout the game.

JU added five runs in the fourth when Diaz and junior Chris Kelly (Sarasota, Fla.) singled and freshman Zach Haniff (Bradenton, Fla.) drove in a run to make it, 4-0 Dolphins. Senior Tom Alford (Jacksonville/Mandarin) followed with a run-scoring single of his own, and senior Clint Hart (Jacksonville/Paxon) doubled in a pair of runs to stake JU to a 7-0 lead.

The Dolphins finish their series with Campbell tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Taylor Field. Sophomore Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) will start the first game for JU, while sophomore Kyle DeVries (Holland, Mich.) will take the mound for game two.
