April 26, 2004
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior righty Dennis Robinson (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) was named Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week, Monday, as announced by the conference office, after throwing a near-no-hitter against Gardner-Webb, holding a no-hitter until the eighth inning and giving up a single unearned run in the ninth. Robinson allowed just two hits and no earned runs, while striking out five and walking one.
Robinson earned his 10th win of the season with the victory, moving into a tie for first in the conference and second in the nation in wins. Robinson becomes the first JU pitcher since 1995 to record 10 victories in a single season, earning his ninth win in his last 10 starts. He also extends to 19.0 innings his streak of games without giving up an earned run.
Last week, Robinson pitched a nine-inning complete-game shutout at Campbell, giving up six hits and striking out three for an 8-0 win. He is currently first in the conference in innings (95.0), tied for first in complete games (5), eighth in strikeouts (56) and eighth in ERA for starters (3.03).
The Dolphins return to action this weekend when they face Lipscomb on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2 in an Atlantic Sun Conference series in Nashville, Tenn. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and Sunday's nine-inning affair begins at 1 p.m.
