Baseball's Ashley Roque to Throw out the First Pitch for the Jacksonville Suns
April 26, 2004
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior reliever Ashley Roque (Jacksonville/Bolles), who was recently honored by the Mayor John Peyton for saving the life of a young woman after a fiery car crash, will throw out the first pitch at the Jacksonville Suns' game on Tuesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Roque pulled a young woman from a burning car after a near-fatal wreck two weeks ago. She has since been released from the hospital and is in good condition.
On the mound, Roque leads JU with three saves this season and has already been featured in the Florida Times-Union, The Sporting News, Baseball America and NCAASports.com for his biggest save of the year. Mayor John Peyton honored Roque with a Commendation for Outstanding Achievement, which was presented at JU's 12th Annual All-Sports Banquet last week.
