Black Squad Completes Three-Game Sweep of Green & Black World Series

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman John Tiner (St. Augustine, Fla.) and sophomore Logan James (Clearwater, Fla.) each finished 3-for-5 with two runs while freshman right-hander John Locklear (Winter Park, Fla.) tallied the win to lead the Black squad to a 9-4 win and a three-game sweep in the Green & Black World Series, Saturday evening at Alexander Breast Field.

Junior Donald Brickle (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) and senior Alex Jamieson (Sarasota, Fla.) also recorded multiple hits and RBI to lead the Black squad. Junior James Murdock (Memphis, Tenn.) also added a double. Locklear earned the win after allowing four runs in 5.0 innings of work.

Junior left-hander Kyle DeVries was tagged with the loss after giving up seven run on 10 his while striking out four batters in 5.0 innings. The JU baseball squad will open the 2005 season at Alexander Breast Field against Florida A&M on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m.
