Neal Fronz Hurls First Complete Game in 7-1 Win over Lipscomb

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior RHP Neal Frontz (Jacksonville/Trinity Christian/Florida CC) recorded the Dolphins' first complete game of the season and sophomore Daniel Murphy (Jacksonville/Edgewood) finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the JU baseball team to a 7-1 win over Lipscomb, Friday evening at Alexander Brest Field. Sophomore Pete Clifford (Jacksonville/Providence) also finished with two hits and an RBI to lead the squad. JU (18-23, 8-13) snapped a four-game losing streak, while Lipscomb dropped to 18-21, 4-12.
Frontz (6-3) earned the complete game gem after allowing one run (a solo home run) on four hits with a walk and four strikeouts. He currently leads the squad with a 3.96 ERA, 50 strikeouts and 72.2 innings pitched.
Seth Kuwik (5-3) was tagged with the loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 4.0 innings.
JU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the third inning when Jamieson hit an RBI single to left, Murphy scored from first on an error by Preston Emery in left field and Gronkowski drove in a run with a fielder's choice to second.
The Dolphins increased the lead to 7-0 in the fourth after RBI singles by Clifford and Murphy, an RBI groundout by James and a run scoring error by Bison second baseman Whit Reed.
Lipscomb made it 7-1 in the top of the sixth when Tadd Brewer hit a solo homer to left center.
JU and Lipscomb will complete their three-game set on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
