JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior forward Ashley Williams was named Atlantic Sun Conference "Player of the Week" after leading the Dolphins to two wins, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Williams, who earned the weekly honor for the fifth time in her career, averaged 22 points and five rebounds while shooting 57 percent from the floor (17-30) in victories over A-Sun regular-season champion Belmont and Lipscomb last week. The Dolphins (20-8, 14-4), who will compete in the A-Sun Tournament for the fourth time in program history, also set new program records with 10 consecutive home wins, eight consecutive wins and 20 wins on the season.

"Ashley had a tremendous week for us," said JU head coach Jill Dunn. "She stepped up huge in our two wins over Belmont and Lipscomb to put us in the position to be the No. 2 seed going into the tournament. When we needed a basket last week, she delivered for us every time."

Against Belmont, Williams tied for the game-high with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor and a 7-for-10 effort from the free-throw line to go along with three steals.

Against Lipscomb, she finished with a game-high 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting to go with eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks. The win also gave the Dolphins a program-best 13-1 record at home.

JU will begin its quest for the A-Sun title on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. EST against No. 7 Stetson at the Dothan Arena. The contest can be heard live on ESPN 1460 with Barry Milligan calling all of the action. The Dolphin Pre-Game Show will air at 4:15 p.m. EST.
