Nashville, Tenn. - The Belmont Bruins hit 10 three-pointers and used a 11-1 run to end the first half to break open a close game en route to a 70-54 win over Jacksonville Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Sun Conference action at Curb Event Center in Nashville. It was the third-straight win for Belmont (7-3, 2-1 A-Sun) over JU (5-4, 0-2 A-Sun), which had won four of its last five games. Freshman forward Haminn Quaintance (Sarasota, Fla.) paced the Dolphins with 19 points and eight rebounds.

The Dolphins turned the ball over 19 times which led to 20 Belmont points. Steve Drabyn led the Bruins with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from outside the arc, while Adam Mark added 14 and Josh Goodwin scored 11. It was the third consecutive win for Belmont, which upset No. 22 Missouri, 71-67, on Tuesday. The Dolphins had allowed just eight three-pointers in the last two games combined.

There were 11 lead changes in the first half before Belmont hit three consecutive three-pointers to end the half. A Nolan McBride (Hartford, Conn.) jumper at the 3:52 mark brought JU within 23-21. Brian Collins drained two free throws and Josh Goodwin hit a three following an offensive rebound to give Belmont a 28-21 lead. Jarred Stockton (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) hit 1-of-2 from the line to cut the deficit to six, but Drabyn and Goodwin nailed back-to-back treys to give the Bruins a 34-22 halftime lead. JU shot just 16-26 from the line for the game.

Belmont shot 65 percent in the second half and forced 10 JU turnovers to pull away. David Lee (Columbus, Ga.) hit a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 34-24, but the Bruins answered with a 10-2 run and the Dolphins never got within 15 the rest of the way.

JU will play at Lipscomb on Monday in Nashville at 9:15 p.m. ET.
