Baketball Radio Games On Thursdays Moved To ESPN 1460

Jan. 22, 2004

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The final four JU basketball games scheduled for Thursday nights will air on Jacksonville's ESPN 1460 AM instead of the Dolphins' flagship station, Gospel 1400, The Light. The Georgia State (Jan. 22), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 5), UCF (Feb. 12) and Lipscomb (Feb. 19) games will move in order to accommodate programming on AM 1400.

In addition, Brian Sexton, the voice of the Jacksonville Jaguars, will handle play-by-play for the JU vs. Stetson game this Tuesday, Jan. 27, while Cole Pepper is covering the Super Bowl. Because of the Tuesday game, The Hugh Durham Show will air on Monday night 7-8 p.m. live from the Mudville Grille in St. Nicholas.

Jeff Lloyd will fill in for Pepper for the Georgia State (Jan. 30) and Mercer (Feb. 1) games. Lloyd, a former collegiate and professional play-by-play announcer out from Birmingham, Ala., has called JU football and baseball games each of the last two years.

Both ESPN 1460 and Gospel 1400, the Light are owned by the Salem Communications Corporation, the leading U.S. radio broadcaster focused on religious and family themes programming. Salem Communications (NASDAQ SALM), owns and operates four radio stations in the Jacksonville Metro Market: WZAZ AM 1400, WBGB 106.5 FM, WZNZ AM 1460, and WJGR AM 1320.
