JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University starting center Joey Robinson (Oklahoma City, Okla.) has been dismissed from the team for violation of team policy, head coach Hugh Durham announced today. The 6-foot-6 junior had started all eight games for the Dolphins, who are 4-4 overall, 1-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference as they prepare for their final non-conference game against Eckerd College Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.

Robinson was averaging 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest, while ranking eighth in the A-Sun with 1.8 blocks per game. He was also tied for the team lead with 11 steals and had dished out 15 assists. Robinson transferred to JU from Redlands (Okla.) Community College, where he averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds last season as a back-up to Taj Gay, who signed with Oklahoma and is the Sooners' starting forward. He helped lead the Cougars to a 35-2 record as Redlands finished second at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament.

JU resumes Atlantic Sun Conference play on Monday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. against Stetson at Swisher Gymnasium.
