Men's golf in sixth after first day at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate

FLORENCE, S.C. - Justin Jones posted rounds of 73 and 72 to finish at one-over par and is tied for seventh after the first day of the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate on the par-72 Country Club of South Carolina.

The Dolphins are in sixth among the 14 teams in the tournament after rounds of 302 and 294 to finish with a 36-hole total of 596. JU trails Furman by four shots for fifth place.

"We didn't play as well as we could in the first round, but had a solid second round," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "Justin put together two very solid rounds today, playing very steady golf."

Jones, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., trails Troy's Michael McGrady in the individual competition. McGrady had rounds of 71 and 69 to sit at four-under par, 140.

Freshman Michael Main carded an 81 in his first collegiate round, but finished with a two-under par 70 to sit in a tie for 37th at 151, seven-over par.

Joshua Kinsey and Matt Kleinrock ended the day tied for 49th at 154, 10-over par. Kinsey had rounds of 79 and 75 while Kleinrock had a pair of 77s.

Senior Kipp Henritzy opened the tournament with a one-par 73 but had an 87 in the second round to finish in a tie for 69th at 160, 16-over par.

The Dolphins wrap up their season opening event on Tuesday, teeing it up with Furman and Troy.
