Men's golf takes 11th at the Mizuno Southbridge Intercollegiate

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Christian Martin and Michael Main both carded two-under par rounds of 70 to lead the JU men's golf team to an 11th place finish at the Mizuno Southbridge Intercollegiate.

The Dolphins carded an even-par round of 288 to jump into 11th to finish the 54-hole event at 892. The round was the best posted by JU so far this season.

Martin's two-under par final round put him at three-under par for the tournament and his first collegiate top 10 finish.

Host Georgia Southern won the team title in a playoff over Winthrop after wiping out a nine-stroke deficit in the final round. Winthrop's Kelly Manders won the individual title after shooting a seven-under par 65 to finish the 54-hole event at 14-under par.

Main's two-under par is the best round for the freshman and moved him into a tie for 61st at 14-over par, 230.

Justin Jones posted a one-over par 73 in the final round to tie for 57th with teammate Matt Kleinrock, who shot a 76, at 12-over par, 228.

Joshua Kinsey posted a three-over par 75 to finish in 68th at 17-over par, 233.

The Dolphins are back in action again on Oct. 22 at the Charleston Southern Fall Intercollegiate.
