Men's golf tied for 10th at the Western Carolina Intercollegiate

SAPPHIRE, N.C. - Justin Jones' one-over par round of 72 led the JU men's golf team as they finished in a tie for 10th after the first round of the Western Carolina Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.

Jones' round was good enough to place him in a tie for 14th in the individual competition, six shots behind the co-leaders from Western Carolina - Andres Cuenca and Dustin Furnari.

The Dolphins finished the first day with a team score of 299, 15-over par, and is tied with Elon for 10th. Western Carolina leads the team competition after posting a six-under par 278.

Freshman Michael Main opened the tournament with four-over par 75 and is tied for 40th. Junior Christian Martin and freshman Stephen Healy carded rounds of 76, five-over par, and are tied for 48th.

Senior Matt Kleinrock shot an 83 in the opening round and is tied for 80th.

The Dolphins wrap up their fall season with the final round on Tuesday.
