Men's golf takes ninth at the WCU Intercollegiate

SAPPHIRE, N.C. - Freshman Stephen Healy carded a one-over par 72 in the final round to lead the JU men's golf team to a ninth place finish at the Western Carolina Intercollegiate.

Healy's stellar final round led JU to a 301 in the final round to finish the 36-hole event at 600.

Western Carolina won the 16-team event with a 36-hole total of 565, beating Vanderbilt by 17. Andres Cuenca of WCU won the individual competition at seven-under par, 135.

Healy's final round moved him into a tie for 25th, his best finish of the fall season, at six-over par, 148.

Justin Jones wrapped up the tournament with a seven-over par 78 to tie for 32nd at 150, eight-over par.

Christian Martin closed the tournament with a 77 to tie for 44th at 11-over par, 153.

Michael Main and Matt Kleinrock tied for 57th at 156, 14-over par. Main shot an 81 in the final round while Kleinrock carded a 74.

The Dolphins are off the rest of the fall and will begin their spring season in February.
