Men's hoops ready for two holiday home games

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville men's basketball team will get a head start on the holiday season on Wednesday as the take the floor against Florida Tech at Noon.

JU (1-2) begins a two-game Thanksgiving homestand on Wednesday before wrapping it up on Saturday against South Carolina State at 7 p.m.

"We've had some good practices since we last played and we're starting to play with more confidence," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "With a young team like this, we needed some positive feedback in our play on the floor and we're starting to see that now."

The Dolphins are looking to extend their winning streak at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena over the weekend. JU won its first home game of the season after holding off at late rally by St. Leo, 77-73.

Marcus Allen was the star of the game, scoring a game-high 20 points and pulling down nine rebounds to go along with six blocked shots.

Joining Allen in the spotlight of late is freshman Corey Claitt. Claitt lit up top-ranked Florida for a team-high 16 points, 12 of those coming in the first half.

The game will be carried on the JU Sports Network, airing on ESPN 1460-AM with Barry Milligan calling the play-by-play. Fans can also watch the game live on the official JU website - www.JUDolphins.com.
