JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the past two seasons, the Jacksonville men's basketball team has lacked depth in the post and forward positions.
The Dolphins continued to address this need by signing 6-foot-6 forward Aric Brooks from Baltimore, Md., on Wednesday.
Brooks starred at St. Frances Academy this past season, leading his team to a 22-7 record by averaging 15 points and eight rebounds per game.
"Aric is long, versatile and athletic, which is what we were looking for when we were on the road this season," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "He has the potential to play a number of positions and will be a great addition to the program."
A first team all-Baltimore City selection by the Baltimore Sun, Brooks was also selected first team all-Examiner by the Baltimore Examiner, as well as second team all-metro by the Baltimore Sun.
His efforts during his senior campaign earned him a spot in the Charm City Challenge, which pits an all-star team from the Baltimore-area against an all-star team from the rest of the country. In the game, Brooks scored 24 points in 19 minutes, going 9-of-11 from the floor, 5-of-5 from the free throw line and hitting 1-of-2 from behind the arc.
Brooks chose JU over Radford, Towson, Loyola (Md.) and Niagara.
