JU Football Announces Schedule Changes

October 7, 1999

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Jacksonville University football game against Chowan College, postponed from September 18, has been cancelled for the 1999 season. Due to the effects of Hurricane Floyd, the Chowan campus was evacuated and the team could not make the trip to Jacksonville. JU and Chowan had tried to reschedule other subsequent games to clear a date, but there were too many conflicts for this season. "We have had great weather for our past football games," said JU Athletics Director Tom Seitz. "Unfortunately, Floyd prevented Chowan from making this trip, although they do owe us a return trip in a future season."

The cancellation results in a nine game schedule for JU this season. The Dolphins (2-2) return home for their next game against Greensboro College on October 16.

JU has also announced that the game time for the Drake game on November 6 has been changed to 2:00 PM. This time change has been made to better coordinate the Trans America Athletic Conference soccer championship game to be held at 11:00 am that same day. JU is the defending TAAC soccer champion and will host the Tournament at the Ashley Sports Complex November 4-6.
