Aug. 14, 2003

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU has signed a contract with Jacksonville's newest sports station, "The Winner" AM 1570 (WNNR), to broadcast all 11 JU football games this season, as well as The Steve Gilbert Show Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. starting Sept. 4. The Voice of the Dolphins, Cole Pepper, who is entering his eighth season with the Jacksonville Jaguars Radio Network, returns for his third year calling play-by-play for all JU football, basketball and baseball games.

"We're excited to be part of a new and growing station," said Jamie Zeitz, JU's Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. "In less than two months of being on the air, 'The Winner' has already added quality programming and has shown a commitment to long-term excellence on the First Coast. We hope this is just the beginning of our relationship with AM 1570."

All JU games can also be heard live on the Dolphins' official athletic web site - The Steve Gilbert Show will air live from The Mudville Grille in St. Nicholas for the third consecutive year.

"We're excited about being the home of JU Dolphins football," said Bernie Daigle, Vice President and General Manager for AM 1570. "JU Football has made great strides in a short period of time, which makes the Dolphins a great fit for us as we begin our growth on the First Coast. Our goal is to be locally focused and Jacksonville University is as local as you can get."

"The Winner" AM 1570 is an affiliate of The Sporting News Radio Network, which currently broadcasts on more than 450 stations across the country, and is Jacksonville's newest home for "Jocks and Stocks". The station features local and national sports, as well as financial reports and updates with Tony Marino, former co-host of the Moneywatch Radio Network. It is also the flagship station for the nationally syndicated Wizetrade Radio Program. In addition, "The Winner" has added Sports Final Wake-Up Call on weekdays mornings with Dan Hicken and Jeff Prosser from First Coast News (TV 12/25), as well as The Dino Costa Show weekdays 3-6 p.m.

JU opens the 2003 season on Sept. 6 at Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m. The Dolphin Pregame Show begins at 12:30 p.m.
