Ryan Feely Earns Pioneer Football League Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University junior punter/place kicker Ryan Feely (Odessa, Fla.) has been named Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week for his play in JU's 31-24 win over Webber International last Saturday. JU (3-5, 2-1 PFL) has won three of its last four games as the Dolphins prepare to host Division I-AA Southeastern Louisiana (5-3) Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at D.B. Milne Field.

Feely accounted for seven points in the Dolphins' win, nailing 4-of-4 PAT's and a career-long 38-yard field goal. He also booted eight punts for a 45.1 yard average, including a long of 58 yards and three punts inside Webber's 20-yard line. Feely had an impact on kickoffs with a successful onside kick in the second quarter which led to a JU touchdown, as well as two touchbacks. Webber International had an average drive start of its own 25-yard line.

Feely, the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons' kicker Jay Feely, leads the Pioneer Football League and ranks 23rd nationally with a 40.5 yard-per-punt average. He also ranks 14th in the PFL in scoring with 3.5 points per game. The Dolphins rank 25th in Division I-AA in net punting, averaging 36.0 yards per kick.

Feely is the second Dolphin honored this season. Senior free safety Omar Platt was named co-Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18.
