JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After completing practice at 5:35 p.m. this afternoon, a new group of JU football team hopefuls made their way to the practice field to participate in the "New Player Run Test" at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. With the roster currently at 90 players, the coaching staff has an open run test to fill the final 20 spots and cap the roster at 110 for the 2006 season.

The Run Test consists of 10 110- yard sprints while the JU coaching staff looks on. Making up some of the faces are players who have been on the roster previously and could not rejoin the team until the start of school. The rest are made up of newcomers who are trying to find a spot with the program.

"It's an opportunity for several freshmen to get on our roster," said JU head coach Steve Gilbert. "For some returners, it's a chance to get back into the JU football program. Over the years, we have had individuals make the team when school starts and have gone on to be a big part of the team."
