Oct. 16, 2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore cornerback Robson Noel was named Pioneer Football League Defensive "Player of the Week" after setting career highs in tackles (10) and passes defended (six) while also recording his first career interception in a 28-21 win over No. 8 Dayton on Oct. 14 at D.B. Milne Field.

Noel, who is in his first full season as a starter, has developed into one of the top cover corners in the conference. He also had to step up as the Dolphins' top corner after a season ending knee injury to senior corner Bryan Flowers in the first week of the season.

"Robson has had a fantastic year up to this point," said JU head coach Steve Gilbert. "He has greatly improved his individual technique throughout the course of the season. Right now, he is the #1 playmaker in our secondary."

Noel leads the Dolphins with 36 tackles (26 solo) and eight passes defended while also tying for the team lead with an interception. Last season, he appeared in five games as a true freshman and finished with seven tackles.

The Dolphins will continue PFL action this weekend as JU faces Morehead State on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1p.m. Barry Milligan will handle the play-by-play on WJGR 1320 "The Patriot" with the Dolphin pre-game show beginning at 12:30 p.m.
