March 26, 2007
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville football team begins its first spring practice under new head coach Kerwin Bell on Tuesday.
The Dolphins will practice 14 times over the next four weeks, with two scrimmages planned, with the schedule culminating with the spring game on April 21 at 10 a.m.
"We've got a lot of work to do in a short amount of time," Bell said. "We're going to be installing our offensive and defensive systems and getting the guys adjusted to our terminology."
Jacksonville's offense is changing from the no-huddle look to Bell's spread offense that will feature an extensive passing attack. Defensively, the Dolphins will be running a 4-3 defense that will give opponents different looks throughout the games.
With the new coaching staff and new systems comes excitement for the first practices of the new season with the goal of winning the Pioneer Football League title.
"We're excited about finally getting onto the field and working with these young men," Bell said. "This spring starts our quest to reach our goal - the Pioneer Football League championship."
The first practice is scheduled to start at 3:20 p.m.
