Men's Golf Places Fourth at Stetson Spring Invitational

DELAND, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's golf team finished fourth at the Stetson Spring Invitational Tuesday at the par-72 Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand, Fla. JU finished with a three-round total of 920 (306-307-307), 15 strokes behind Bethune-Cookman. Junior Will Morgan (Berkshire, England) paced JU finishing in a tie for sixth with a 10 over-par 226 in the Dolphins' first event of the spring season.
JU was in third place heading into the final round trailing only Troy State and Bethune-Cookman, but failed to make up any ground on either one finishing with the same score (307) as in round two. BCC's Luke Miller finished three over-par taking home medallist honors (71-78-70=219), defeating Florida Atlantic's Matt Anderson by two strokes.
Senior Andy Allen (Jacksonville/Wolfson) fired a final round 71, the low round for any Dolphin player, to finish 11th with a total of 228. Seniors Derek Ausherman (Middletown, Md.) and Luis Rivera (Jacksonville/Terry Parker) finished in a tie for 14th with totals of 233, while freshman Travis Ausherman (Middletown, Md.) finished 34th with a total of 250.
The Dolphins return to action Feb. 17-18 at the Sam Hall/Southern Miss Intercollegiate in Biloxi, Miss.
