Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At Winthrop/Waterford Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Senior Andy Allen (Jacksonville/Wolfson) fired a 3-over-par (73-74) to finish tied for 10th while leading the JU men's golf team to a seventh-place finish out of 19 teams at the Winthrop/Waterford Invitational on Tuesday. The Dolphins fired a two-round 609 (303-306) to finish one shot back of Western Carolina on the par-72, 6,788-yard Waterford Course. Charleston Southern fired a 5-over 581 (285-296) to hold off second-place Mercer (290-295) by four shots.

Senior Derek Ausherman (Middletown, Md.) shot a 150 (74-76) to finish in a tie for 20th, while senior Luis Rivera (Jacksonville/Terry Parker) finished in a tie for 33rd with a 153 (78-75). Junior Will Morgan (Berkshire, England) fired a 159 (78-81) and sophomore Kevin Vucinich (Moon Township, Pa.) shot a 171 (82-89) to round out the Dolphins' scoring.

Winthrop's Matt Johnson earned individual medallist honors with a 3-under-par, 141 (71-70), edging out Charleston Southern's Tom Schupp (72-70) by a stroke.

The Dolphins return to action at the Jacksonville State/Amoco Invitational, March 31-April 1, in Jacksonville, Ala.
