Men's golf in eighth after two rounds at the Coca-Cola Duke Classic

DURHAM, N.C. - Jamie Kennedy posted a two-round total of two-over par to lead the Jacksonville men's golf team to an eighth place finish after the first day of the Coca-Cola Duke Classic.
Amid rainy conditions in the morning round, the Dolphins posted a nine-over par total of 297. With cool conditions in the afternoon, JU posted a 10-over par 298 total.
Kennedy was the most consistent Dolphin during the day, posting rounds of 72 and 74 to sit in a tie for 15th at two-over par. The Dolphins are at 19-over par, 595, and trail tournament leader Coastal Carolina, who leads the 15-team event at 570.
Coastal's Dustin Johnson leads the individual competition at seven-under par after carding rounds of 69 and 68 to own a one-shot lead heading into the final round.
JU's Duncan Stewart and Russell Knox are tied for 26th at three-over par 147. Stewart had a 77 in the opening round but carded a two-under 70 in the second round to move back into contention for a top-20 finish.
Knox had a 71 in the opening round but carded a 76 in the afternoon to finish tied with Stewart.
Matt Kleinrock shot rounds of 77 and 78 to finish in a tie for 62nd at 11-over par. Christian Martin rounded out the scoring for JU with rounds of 82 and 80 for an 18-over par total at 162. He is in 79th place entering the final round.
The Dolphins wrap up the tournament with the final round on Monday morning.
