EL PASO, Texas - JU senior Russell Knox will tee it up on Monday against the nation's best collegiate golfers at the 2006 Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic on the par-71, El Paso Country Club.

Knox earned his spot in the field by earning honorable mention All-America honors after finishing in the top 20 in every event last season.

"This is a great opportunity for Russell to test his game against some of the best golfers in the country," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "It's a first-class tournament that provides a spotlight for the best in college golf."

Through the years, many Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic competitors have gone on to pursue successful careers in the Professional Golfers' Association of America and on the PGA Tour. Some of the past champions include Ricky Barnes (2000), Notah Begay (1994), David Duval (1991), Matt Kuchar (1999), Davis Love III (1984), Chris Nallen (2003), Jerry Pate (1974) and Tiger Woods (1995).

Each university is awarded a $1,000 scholarship if a golfer from that school competes in the tournament.

Knox will tee off at 8 a.m. (MST) with Arizon'a Travis Esway. The duo will start their second round at 12:30 p.m.
