ATLANTA - First round Leaderboard

Going off in the final two groups on Thursday, Russell Knox and Duncan Stewart faced the teeth of the Golf Club of Georgia amid difficult scoring conditions in the first round of the NCAA East Regional.

Knox was able to battle the course to post a two-over par 74 and sit in a tie for 35th while Stewart shot a 10-over par 82 and is tied for 126th place.

Knox, ranked 88th in the country, got off to a solid start on the 10th hole. He opened with five straight pars before a birdie on the par-4 15th to get to one-under par.

He followed with a par on the 16th before a double bogey on the 225-yard par-3 17th finished his first nine holes at one-over par.

Back-to-back pars to open his final nine were derailed by a bogey on the 192-yard par-3 third hole to fall to two-over par.

Knox rallied with a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole, but another bogey on a par-3, the 222-yard sixth hole dropped him back to two-over par where he finished his round.

Stewart got off to a rocky start and wasn't able to recover until the final hole of the round. Starting on the 10th hole as well, Stewart had a troublesome stretch from holes 12 through 15 - going five-over par over the four holes.

A bogey on the 17th finished his front side at six-over par.

On the back nine, Stewart seemed to have righted the ship as he piled up six straight pars. A triple bogey on the sixth and a double bogey on the eighth sent him to 11-over par for the round.

His lone birdie came on the final hole, finish his round at 10-over par.

The duo of Dolphins will look to move up the leaderboard in the second round on Friday. Knox tees off at 8:53 a.m., while Stewart will tee it up at 9:02 a.m.
