September 22, 1999

Jacksonville, Fla. - Jacksonville University placed two players on Soccer America's national Team-of-the-Week for the week of September 13-19. Junior goalkeeper Petar Popovic and senior Mladen Dikic were named to the team after they helped lead the Dolphins to two victories ( 2-1 over host Richmond and 2-0 over #14 Virginia Commonwealth) and the championship at the Richmond Nike Cup Challenge over the weekend.

Popovic, who was named as the Tournament MVP, was also recognized by the Trans America Athletic Conference as the men's soccer Player-of-the-Week. Meanwhile, Dikic, who was named to the All-Tournament team, scored three goals in the two weekend games to give him a team-leading nine goals and 18 points in five games for the undefeated Dolphins.

Jacksonville, ranked 14th in the latest Soccer America poll, is currently tied for the best winning percentage in men's Division I college soccer, and ranks 11th with a winning streak of five games. The Dolphins will return to action this Saturday and Sunday when they host South Florida and Howard respectively. Both games are slated for 4:00 PM starts.
