Senior goalkeeper Petar Popovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) had a six-save shutout as the Jacksonville University men's soccer team fought to a 0-0 tie with Saint Leo Thursday evening in an exhibition match at the Ashley Sports Complex.

Both teams missed opportunities to score with shots bouncing off of the cross bar and great plays made by both goalkeepers, including two stops by Popovic in the last two minutes of the match. Lion goalkeepers Derrick Wills and Charlie Long each had two saves in the game as Saint Leo out-shot the Dolphins 15-10.

"We played a lot of young kids today," said team consultant Bob Moullin. "They played very well, and I am extremely pleased with their performance."

The Dolphins open the regular season Friday, Sept. 1 against Maryland at the Coca-Cola Classic in Charlottesville, Va. The first home match of the season is Sept. 16 as the Dolphins host Florida Atlantic, Central Connecticut State and DePaul in the 2000 JU Nike Legends Classic.
