The Jacksonville University men's soccer team tied Trans America Athletic Conference opponent Mercer, 1-1, Saturday afternoon at the Mercer Soccer Complex.

The Dolphins are now 4-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in TAAC play, while the Bears are 5-3-1 on the year, 1-0-1 in league play.

David Henager opened the scoring for the Bears at 6:33 in the match with a rifled shot to the left corner past JU senior goalkeeper Petar Popovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Sophomore forward Steve Command (Brighton, Mich.) headed in a throw from freshman defender Brett Surrency (Gainesville, Fla.) to tie the score at one apiece at the 55:29 mark. The two teams faced off in two 15-minute overtimes, but neither could come up with a goal.

Popovic recorded eight saves in the match for the Dolphins'.

The Dolphins return to action Tuesday, Oct. 10 when they host TAAC opponent UCF at 4 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
