Petar Popovic and Mladen Dikic Earn Regional All-America Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University soccer standouts Petar Popovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and Mladen Dikic (Lovran, Croatia) earned Regional All-America honors as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Friday afternoon.
Popovic, a senior goalkeeper, and Dikic, a senior forward, earned third-team All-South honors after helping JU finish third in the TAAC and earning first-team All-TAAC honors at the conclusion of the regular season.
Popovic, who earned second-team All-South Regional All-America honors as a junior, also earned TAAC Co-Player of the Year recognition at the conclusion of his collegiate career. He tallied a 1.35 goals against average after allowing a league-low 20 goals and recording 92 saves. He stands as JU's all-time leader in wins with 48 and saves with 358.
Dikic, meanwhile, earned third-team All-South Regional All-America honors for the second-consecutive season. He finished second in the TAAC in goals per game (0.60), fourth in the league in goals (9) and seventh in points (19). In his two-plus seasons at JU - Dikic played in four games in 1998 before missing the rest of the year with a leg injury - Dikic tallied 22 goals, six assists and 50 points.
Popovic and Dikic were two of three TAAC players to earn Regional All-America honors, being joined by Mercer's Maxwell Rooke on the third team.
