JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior forward Ryan Potts (Winter Park, Fla.) scored the game-winning goal three minutes into overtime as the Dolphins snapped an eight-match winless streak with a 1-0 win over Gardner-Webb (7-4, 2-2 A-Sun) on Saturday at a rain-soaked Ashley Sports Complex. JU head coach Bob Moullin recorded his 200th career win in the process as the Dolphins improve to 2-8-2 overall, and 1-3 in the A-Sun.
Potts scored in the 94th minute of play in the first overtime period, as he received a pass from sophomore midfielder Felipe Munoz (Jacksonville/Orange Park) and scored on a header to give JU the victory.
The Dolphins had a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal, while the corner kick total was even at 4-4. Senior Greg Williams (Hopewell, N.Y.) recorded his second shutout of the season and collected one save, while Tyler Kettering stopped 13 shots for Gardner-Webb.
The Dolphins return to action when they play at Belmont in an A-Sun match next Friday, Oct. 17 at 4:00 p.m.
