Men's Soccer Wins 3-0 vs. Georgia Southern in Final Exhibition

Aug. 28, 2004

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - Sophomore forward Tommy Krizanovic (Jacksonville/Englewood) scored in the fifth minute while junior midfielder Brian Blackburn (Jacksonville/Orange Park) had a goal and an assist as the Jacksonville University men's soccer team beat Georgia Southern 3-0 at Ashley Sports Complex in both teams' last exhibition game.

Krizanovic put JU's first goal in off of an assist by Blackburn to give the Dolphins the 1-0 lead. Blackburn scored in the 25th minute on a penalty kick. Neither teams scored again until the 80th minute when junior defender Brian Kallman (Woodberry, Minn.) headed in the rebound from sophomore midfielder Tyler Stansberry's (McAllen, Texas) shot that hit the crossbar.

Dolphin goalkeepers had a light afternoon as the Eagles could get no shots off against JU's backline, while Mike Johnson's squad took 11 shots on the day.

"The team made tremendous strides since our first game Tuesday," Johnson said. "They worked hard to get a positive result today."

JU open regular season play vs. USF Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
