Men's Soccer Puts Out UIC Flames, 2-1, in adidas Homestay Inn Classic

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Sophomore forward Tommy Krizanovic (Jacksonville/Englewood) netted the first two-goal game of his career and led the Jacksonville University men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Illinois-Chicago on the final day of the adidas Homestay Inn Classic at UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C. The Dolphins improve to 3-1 on the season, while UIC stands at 0-5.

Krizanovic scored the gamewinning goal and his third goal of the tournament at 82:06, putting in a shot off the free kick by freshman defender Brian Cocciolo (Orange Park, Fla.). Krizanovic scored the match's first goal in the 17th minute when he beat Flames keeper Roman Tulis in a one-on-one situation. The sophomore has scored three or more points in the Dolphins' three wins this year.

UIC tied up the match in the 38th minute when Tonci Skroce scored from the penalty box off a Derek Kosek cross.

The Dolphins outshot UIC, 14-11, and took more corners than the Flames, 14-6. JU senior goalkeeper Greg Williams (Hopewell, N.Y.) had five saves in the contest for his third win of the season.

The Dolphins travel to Lehigh, Pa., to take on the Mountain Hawks Friday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lehigh Nike Tournament.
