Tommy Krizanovic Named First Team Atlantic Sun All-Conference
Nov. 10, 2004
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore forward Tommy Krizanovic (Jacksonville/Englewood) was named to the 2004 Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team and defender John Marquart (Huntsville, Texas) was picked to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team, as selected by the conference men's soccer coaches, it was announced Wednesday.
Krizanovic led the A-Sun in points (30) and tied for the conference lead with 13 goals on the year. He also tied for third on the Dolphins with his four assists. His 54 shots taken tied him for fifth on JU's single-season chart. He becomes the 16th Dolphin to receive first-team honors from the Atlantic Sun, following Brett Surrency's selection last year.
Marquart becomes the sixth Dolphin named to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team, after Tyler Stansberry (McAllen, Texas) received the honor in 2003. The defender took only one shot on goal during the season, yet he was instrumental in the Dolphins' improved defensive play. The first freshman to start every game since Nick Comerford and Sean Steed in 2000, Marquart helped the JU defense lower its goals against average .31 (1.85-1.54) from a year ago.
The Dolphins closed out the season with a 8-8-1 record, 3-5-1 in A-Sun play. The team took second-place honors in the Seahawk Soccer Classic in Wilmington, N.C., earlier in the year. Senior Richard Blackburn (Orange Park, Fla.) led the team with eight assists, moving him to 23 on his career and third on JU's all-time assists list. Senior Greg Williams (Hopewell, N.Y.) had seven wins on the year, ranking him fourth on the JU career wins list (19). Williams also had two shutouts in 2004, moving him to third place all-time with 9.0.
