BOILING SPRINGS, N.C - Gardner-Webb used a second-half goal and stingy defense to down the Jacksonville University men's soccer team, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic Sun Conference match at Varsity Field

"We are still looking for guys to help us offensively," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "We need to find some guys off the bench to help us mainly in the hump of the conference season. Our team will work on some things in practice before we play again on Thursday."

With the score deadlocked at zero in the second half, Jamie Miller scored the game-winning goal for the Bulldogs (3-6-1, 3-1 A-Sun) on a shot from 30-yards out through a defender to the back left post on an assist from Miguel Pinzon.

Junior Anton Axelsson led the Dolphins (3-8-1, 1-2 A-Sun) by recording four of their season-low six shots.

The Dolphins return to the Ashley Sports Complex for two key A-Sun matches starting on Thursday, October 12. JU opens with Lipscomb at 7 p.m. before wrapping up with Belmont on Saturday, October 14.
