Nov. 4, 2006

DeLAND, Fla. - Junior forward Anton Axelsson was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Tournament team after scoring a goal in the semifinals against Stetson on Nov. 3.

"I'm happy that Anton received this honor," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "He has played well for us over the last two seasons and it's good to know we can count on him in clutch situations like the A-Sun tournament. We are looking for big things out of Anton for his senior season."

Axelsson added his eighth goal of the season on a corner kick to even the match at one apiece in the second half, but the Hatters scored a goal in the 69th minute to secure the 2-1 victory to advance to the A-Sun title match.

During the regular season, Axelsson received second-team all-conference team accolades for the second consecutive season after ranking second in the conference with seven goals and five assists.

In 2005, he led the team with seven assists and was second on the squad with nine goals to earn his first all-conference team honor.

The Dolphins wrapped the 2006 season with a 7-11-1 record and reached their second straight A-Sun Tournament. JU downed Belmont, 1-0, in the first round to reach their first semifinal in since 2002.
