JACKSOVILLE, Fla. -
After performing well in the league's combine, JU men's soccer forward Tommy Krizanovic finally got the call he was waiting for after being drafted by FC Dallas in the fourth round of the 2007 Major League Soccer SuperDraft in Indianapolis, Ind. on Friday afternoon.
Krizanovic, the reigning Atlantic Sun Conference "Player of the Year", was taken with the fourth pick (43rd overall) of the round to become the first player in JU and Atlantic Sun Conference history selected in the MLS draft.
"I'm really excited for Tommy and the opportunity he has before him," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication for him to get to this point. I look for him to have a long and successful career in the MLS."
Krizanovic led the A-Sun in scoring for last three seasons en route to earning three consecutive first-team all-conference and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South region honors. He also finished the regular season leading the nation in goals per game (1.08) and points per game (2.46).
In 2006, he scored a team-high 14 goals and 33 points to earn first team all-conference and NSCAA/adidas All-South second team accolades after helping led the Dolphins to their second straight A-Sun Tournament and first berth in the conference semifinals since 2002.
He finished with 47 career goals which ranks third in school history and tallied 108 career points to finish fifth on the all-time list.
