Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Southern Intercollegiate
ATHENS, Ga. - Junior Christoph Mueller (Waldsassen, Germany) advanced to the second round before bowing out as the Dolphins opened the 2003 fall season in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

In singles play, Mueller defeated Albano Franco of Georgia State, 6-3, 6-3, in Division II. Mueller then fell in the second round to Steven Kane of William Mary, 6-0, 6-2. In Division III, Rich Davoli (Abington, Pa.) fell to Will Moseley of Georgia Southern, 6-3, 6-4, while Brian Garfield (Los Gatos, Ca.) dropped a hard-fought match to Joseph Lariscy of Georgia, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2.

Peter Wietrak (Bensalem, Pa.) lost his opening match in Division III play to Moises Serrano of East Tennessee State, 6-3, 6-2 before falling to Seth Bowman of the College of Charleston, 6-1, 6-2, in the consolation round. Andres Rojas (Guatemala City, Guatemala) fell to Jens Pillgram Larson of Vanderbilt, 6-3, 6-3, while Ryan Lang (Sarasota, Fla.) dropped his first round match, falling to Henry Trottet of Georgia Southern, 6-0, 6-0. Lang then lost to Thomas Bross of Stetson, 6-1, 6-2, in the consolation round.

The Southern Intercollegiate Championships continue Saturday, Sept. 20 in Athens, Ga. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
